As far as i'm fan of cars and stuff related to racing, I didn't expect what this movie turned out.It was extraordinary.I loved the sound track the most, they created an atmosphere of 70s which was utterly beautiful. Matt Demon,as always turned out to be outstanding. It was a hell of a ride at 7k rpm.
Ford v Ferrari, where do I start, Its one of those movies where you want to get the most of every moment, where every single moment is crucial to narrative. Loved the adaption of the true story. Stunning visuals, brilliant acting & the way the movie portrays the friendship, bromance & blind trust on your person is incredible. I was sobbing in the end. The movie really cared about the characters & the cars as well. Great stuff.!
A true story with great actors, this movie will surely impress you. The epic tale of 24 hour Le Mans race is narrated in great fashion. Directed by James Mangold, this has to one of finest of 2019. Matt Damon and Christian Bale portrayed the characters in a great manner. Must watch, especially if your are a history lover and wants to take a ride into the history.
A true story with great actors takes us back in time and does that in a grand fashion. Fasten your seat belts and enjoy the show where they tell you how Henry Ford II took his revenge on the race track. Matt Damon and Christian Bale have both done an excellent job. The direction, storyline and visuals are top notch. This is one of movies which inspires you and one surely will not want to miss, especially if one likes history and has a knack for great stories. Enjoy the movie in big screen.
A beautiful very well told. Christian Bale at his best, indeed a Oscar worthy performance. Sets, cars takes you back to late 60s, you get fully immersed into it. Racing sequences are also very well shot, enjoyed it thoroughly. Apart from racing legends Ken Miles and Carrol Shelby, you'll get to see automotive legends Lee Iacocca, Henry Ford II and Enzo Ferrari. One need not be a car race lover to watch this wonderful movie.
This movie was spectacular. It rarely drags but mostly the storytelling is unique and entertaining. Bale gives a great performance, better than last year in Vice. Damon makes the movie feel real, and the chemistry between them is so brother-like. Jon Bernthal makes a great addition to the cast and makes his scenes quite intense. The editing and sound are astonishing because it gives us the realistic feeling of racing. Cinematography is life-like and it makes cars easy to follow, I won't even start with the color grading.I thought that soundtrack could be used better.
Cristian Bale puts his method acting to perfection, getting inside the character of the talented race driver Miles. While Matt puts in a sophisticated performance as a racer-turned-businessman, it is Bale who rules the little-longer-than-needed film time. The characters have been drawn out beautifully in the early part of the movie & the crux of the Ford vs Ferrari rivalry hits the peak during the climax. A special mention goes out to the child actor who portrays Miles' kid for betraying the innocence & excitement of the racing phenomena which swept the early 60s.
Ford v Ferrari is engaging, emotional, and downright thrilling when it wants to be.I was invested in these characters and on the edge of my seat during the climactic races.Ithoroughly enjoyed my experience with this movie. There is a missed opportunity in terms of emotion during a certain scene, but I was able to forgive that, seeing as the rest of the movie was so impressive. Ford v Ferrari is one of the best movies I've seen so far this year
One of the greatest movies of this year. I personally don’t know much about the history of the two car companies but what I do know is that this movie truly explained the entire rivalry. Matt Damon as carol Shelby was a great decision, his years of acting really help in his role. Christian Bale as Ken Miles was also a great choice, he really does play a good family man despite him playing the iconic Batman character. Overall great movie based on a true story.
In this movie there were many good things from the actors I suppose, and certainly the time period seemed to be visually well represented. But all the characters seemed enslaved by the movie theme which, for me, left them hollow and uninteresting. We never really got to know any one or understand their passion for the sport from any emotional standpoint.
Ford vs ferrari is a very historically accurate movie and displays the drivers and the plot line very well. The sounds from the cars were very good and pleased my senses well. The actors that portrayed the real characters acted very good and showed great emotion and the plot of the story very well. It told Ken Miles racing story very well and how he was a good driver and his teacher you could say knew exactly what he was always doing. The story is told well and is very sad towards the end and shows how much Ken Miles teacher really loved him like a brother and they were great friends.
I am a racing fan & love the sound of the Ford V8!. Ferrari sounded awesome as well. The sound effects were amazing so that it startled me as I continued to marvel at this throughout the action scenes. This movie had it all...ups, downs, laughs, and tears. I found myself pumping my fists and audibly verbalizing my thoughts with the characters. The actors, Damon and Bayle, were very synergistic with flawless acting. When there was no action, the plot was necessary and keeps the movie short even though it’s two and a half hours long.
A very good movie, excellent racing footage, great personal look into what the relationship might have been between Carol Shelby and Ken Miles. They could have added a scenes or two that showed Shelby’s development of the Mustang into the GT350 race car after the launch of the Mustang and their continuing partnership as well as some glimpse into the early development of the GT40 in the UK before it appears on the tarmac outside the Shelby facility at the LA airport. An introduction to Holman & Moody and John Weir’s crew who were also fielding cars to bolster Fords chances of beating Ferrari, would have explained some things about the other GT40’s in the races.
This film Ford vs Ferrari maybe steps out of its era and takes too contemporary a view about Fordism and takes many opportunities to point out problems with the division of labor model of manufacturing and Ford's approaches to hierarchy and management. I doubt that people in the 60's could see WHY Ford was malfunctioning or stood around explaining it to each other. The characters here maybe have too comprehensive an understanding of what's wrong at Ford.
This is a very interesting and engrossing movie. The racing scenes are dramatic and the evolution of the Ford G40 racing car through one engineering disaster to another is fascinating. It shows the mortal dangers of Formula One racing, a sport or profession that few can aspire to, highly skilled men with icewater in their veins. The continual trip hammer beat in the music, reminiscent of "Dunkirk", keeps one on the edge of ones seat.
Ford vs Ferrari is the Incredible, Spectacular, Big-Budget, Star-Powered, Thrill Ride from Bale and Damon with stunning visual racing scenes is a must watch on the big screen. The movie doesn’t even let you lean on your recliner, keeps you straight up with excitement and finally gives you the perfect Movie-Gasm multiple times in its course, the pulsating effect of which continues for a few hours even after you exit from the movie theatre. Even if you are not a motorhead, you will certainly be thrilled by this high-velocity bromance, powered by zealous acting and Mangold’s fastidious direction.
In this movie the acting was terrific! Matt Damon as Shelby, Christian Bale as Miles, and Noah Jupe as his son Peter were so good! And Tracy Letts as Henry Ford II was fabulous! I loved watching him. Others who were good: Caitriona Balfe as wife Mollie Miles, Jon Bernthal as Lee Iacocca, Josh Lucas as Leo Beebe all were so enjoyable to watch.
This is an excellent movie about the true story how Henry Ford II took out his revenge on the race track by hiring Carroll Shelby to beat Ferarri at the most prestigious international race, the 24 Hours of LeMans, after Enzo Ferarri pulled out of a deal to sell Ferarri to Ford and instead sell his company to Fiat. Brilliantly filmed with no CGI for the racing scenes and great acting by Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby and Christian Bale as race car driver as Ken Miles. Supporting cast as Henry Ford II, Lee Iaccoca and Ken Miles' wife were all outstanding, while the movie was directed in a way that will entertain anyone who loves a great story.
In FORD V FERRARI, race car driver Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) wins the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans race but is forced to retire due to a heart condition. Meanwhile, at the Ford Motor Company, Lee Iacocca (Jon Bernthal) proposes that the company start making race cars as a way to improve their image with younger drivers. An attempt to partner with Ferrari goes south, so Ford hires Shelby to build their car. Shelby, in turn, hires Ken Miles (Christian Bale), a talented but volatile driver, to help work out the bugs. Henry Ford II (Tracy Letts) puts executive Leo Beebe (Josh Lucas) in charge of the racing division, and Beebe immediately sets out to get rid of Miles. But Miles and Shelby have an ace up their sleeve: They actually have the talent to win races and have their sights set on the 1966 Le Mans. Nevertheless, Beebe has one last weaselly plan.
If you know the answer without googling, then I probably don't have to sell you on "Ford V Ferrari", James mangold's nimble and crafty reconstruction of a storied moment in the annals of auto racing. You will probably go in prepared to spot tongue differentials and historical discrepancies that escaped my notice.

My wife made me bribe her with a dinner before agreeing to go to see this movie with me, but when it was over, she was the first to say, "What a great movie." Highly recommend you see this in IMAX or Regal RPX theater with better sound.
James Mangold’s (Logan/3:10 to Yuma remake) latest is a fun tale of the rivalry between the Ford car company & Ferrari on who’s vehicle would win the infamous 24 hour LeMans race back in the 1960's. Ford enlisted Carrol Shelby, played by Matt Damon, to solve their dilemma which in turn caused Shelby to recruit his best friend/enemy Ken Myles (returning Yuma star Christian Bale) as his driver. Both mavericks in their own fields, Shelby the car maker/seller & Myles the perfectionist racer used their combined talents (& embattled histories) to take on the illustrious task of dethroning the mighty Italian carmaker (who at that point in history made beautiful cars but was in debt). Easy job, you think? You’d be wrong since Ford’s underlings & marketing gurus may have had the right ideas on how to make a car look pretty (the ’64 launch of their immortal Mustang is featured) but their know how on what made a engine tick properly was lost on them which fuels the constant fire between Ford & Shelby who wanted final say so on the men to race their cars (Miles was pegged as a problematic lone wolf) while Shelby knew he had the right man for the job. Never taking the Cliffs’ notes approach to the material but savvy enough to make the car jargon fun & inclusive, this film fires on every cylinder (forgive my car punniage!) staying entertaining & even riveting when we know from history who wins the race. All the actors are in fine mettle including Jon Bernthal, Josh Lucas, Ray McKinnon, Caitriona Balfe (from Starz’s Outlander) & a special mention to Tracy Letts (playwright of Osage County) for his hilarious portrayal of Henry Ford II.
As with any good historical biopic,"Ford V Ferrari" is less about the competition between the vehicles and more about the men who pilot these exceptional machines. They are brought together with less than 90 days to go for the race.In this time, they need to develop a vehicle that competes in the race, while also battling bureaucracy in the organisation.
ford vs ferrari! wow! this is a joy ride watching both the brand cars to vroom by. Extremely happy with the screenplay, background score and acting of the lead actors, specially chritian bale! There was not much of audience in the theatre probably the movie has theme which is quite old type. However i and my friend loved it.
Ford vs Ferrari starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon is an old fashioned period sports drama that balances thrills, laughs and emotions equally. It gives the audience the experience of bombastic sound design, tires squealing and sparks flying on a massive screen. It has zesty acting from Mangold's meticulous direction.
This is what cinema is supposed to be! Amazing chemistry and acting by both leads, seamless CGI and practical effects to enhance the film, a firecracker script, a true story, pulse pounding soundtrack, booming sound mix, and edited so well that 2.5 hours flies by! Completely and utterly engaging . So good in fact I saw it twice within 24 hours . Once in Imax and once in Dolby cinema .
